Overview

Our client is a high-growth technology and marketplace company seeking a Business Development Manager to identify, launch, and scale new product verticals. This role combines strategic thinking with hands-on execution: you will build business cases, acquire anchor partners, lead go-to-market launches, and then hire a team to scale the category before moving on to the next opportunity. Ideal for someone with a consulting, venture-building, or high-growth tech background who thrives on building from zero to one.

Key Responsibilities

  • Identify and prioritise high-margin new verticals using market data, platform insights, and financial modelling.
  • Build clear business cases (GMV, margin, unit economics) to secure investment and resources.
  • Lead 0-to-1 category launches end-to-end, from supply sourcing and pricing strategy to go-live execution.
  • Acquire and close 10 to 20 anchor partners (boutiques, collectors, distributors) to establish market credibility.
  • Define operating standards including authentication, commercial terms, and fulfilment setup.
  • Track performance, optimise early traction, and ensure the vertical reaches sustainable growth targets.
  • Hire and build a dedicated team to scale the category, then transition ownership and move to the next opportunity.

Qualifications

  • 4 to 6 years of experience in Business Development, Management Consulting, Venture Building, or high-growth tech environments.
  • Proven track record launching new products, categories, or markets from concept to execution.
  • Strong analytical skills with hands-on experience in market sizing, financial modelling, and unit economics.
  • Demonstrated ability to source and close strategic B2B partnerships.
  • Experience hiring and leading small teams through early-stage growth.
  • Commercially sharp, data-driven, and comfortable operating in ambiguity.
