About the Role

Evantis Talent Solutions is partnering with a leading global semiconductor company to find an experienced automation engineer ready to take on a senior individual contributor role. This is a great opportunity for a driven engineer from a electronics, industrial automation, or advanced manufacturing background to step into a high-tech environment and make a real impact.

You'll be involved in the design, development, and deployment of automation solutions across a complex manufacturing facility — working with cross-functional teams and contributing to continuous improvement initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

Automation Design & Development

  • Serve as a technical resource for automation solutions including equipment automation, material handling, robotic systems, and system integration.
  • Support and lead automation projects from concept through feasibility, POC, implementation, and handover.
  • Optimize existing automation systems against KPIs such as UPH, OEE, MTBF, and throughput.

Project Execution

  • Gather requirements from stakeholders and translate them into clear technical specifications.
  • Support feasibility studies, POCs, and equipment purchasing processes.
  • Collaborate with hardware, software, and systems teams across internal and external partners.

System Integration

  • Design and implement control architecture, sequence diagrams, load/unload automation, and equipment integration.
  • Support system setup, testing, documentation, and training activities.

Sustaining & Support

  • Troubleshoot automation systems and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Provide technical support to maintenance and operations teams.

Strategic Input

  • Contribute to the evaluation of new automation technologies and internal standards.
  • Share knowledge and support junior team members where applicable.

Qualifications

Education Bachelor's degree or higher in:

  • Mechanical, Automation, Mechatronics, or Robotics Engineering
  • Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, or a related discipline

Required Experience

  • 5–7 years of experience in automation engineering within electronics, industrial, or advanced manufacturing environments
  • Hands-on experience designing or developing automation solutions (equipment automation, material handling, robotic/cobot systems)
  • Experience with PLC or PC-based control systems and machine/cell integration
  • Proficiency with 2D/3D CAD software (SolidWorks, AutoCAD, or Inventor)
  • Experience with application development or database tools (MySQL, MS SQL, Python, or similar)

Preferred Skills

  • Familiarity with SECS/GEM communication protocols (semiconductor experience a plus, not required)
  • Software development in C#, C++, Python, or Java
  • Exposure to MES systems or smart factory concepts
  • Knowledge of networking fundamentals (VLANs, switches, wireless)
  • Understanding of RESTful APIs
